Dr.Ambedkar College of Education was established in Bangalore in sept. 1980. It is a Grant-in-Aid institution, recognized by N.C.T.E. and affiliated to Bangalore University. The College caters to pre-service training of Secondary School Teachers. The college has Nine teaching staff members of whom three are Ph.D Degree holders. Three Staff Members are doing Ph.D in Education. Members of staff are involved in innovative inservice programmes as resource persons at local, state and national levels. There are Twelve supporting staff including a qualified librarian. The college is also serving as a study centre for Karnataka State Open University’s B.Ed. Distance Education Programme.
